I have been a teacher for 19+ years. I began my teaching career in San Diego, where my husband and I are from. I taught fourth and fifth grade before becoming a gifted resource teacher in 2001. I received my M. ed. from the University of Virginia and I have been a gifted resource teacher at Henderson Elementary for the past 9 years, most of which was part time. I also had some 1 day a week assignements at Ashland, Marshall, and Bel Air ES. Henderson is very fortunate to have a full time gifted resource teacher onsite, as we are generally split between schools.
I have 3 children of my own; Karley is 18 and now a freshman at Virginia Tech, Jake is 15 and is a Sophmore at Forest Park High School. Riley is 9 and in fourth grade in Mrs. Bowersox's room this year. All 3 are involved in swimming; Jake is on Forest Park's cross country team, and Riley is plays baseball and soccer. I really enjoy the staff here at Henderson and enjoy collaborating with some great teams. I have been involved in the language arts and math committees here. I have participated in Creating Professional Relationships learning all I can about ESOL. I have also been a coordinator of Henderson's successful Fun Run. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, reading, and working in the yard. Can't truly call it gardening. Our family loves boating, hiking, and most anything outdoorsy. We have a boat and spend many hours on Lake Anna where my family loves to wakeboard. I wish everyone a wonderful school year! | ||||||||||
